Concessionary Rate

Eligible to anyone with at least 1 years Chartered Membership experiencing financial hardship, or on a sabbatical with an annual income of less that £12,500 p.a. or equivalent in local currency at the prevailing exchange rate as per the OANDA website.

If you meet all the above criteria then all you now need to do is:

  • Download the Concessionary Rate Application.
  • Complete in full and sign.
  • Please return your form by e-mail to concessionary@ciob.org.uk. Alternatively you can return your application by post to: The Subscriptions Department, The Chartered Institute of Building, 1, Arlington Square, Downshire Way, Bracknell, Berkshire, RG12 1WA.

All forms need to be completed and returned by the 1st February 2018 inclusive. Any applications received after this date will not be processed.

Once we receive your application and have reached a decision we will contact you. Please note that until that decision has been reached your annual subscription remains due and payable in full.



ACIOB and ICIOB Retired Rate

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) offer a retired rate annual subscription for eligible members who are fully and permanently retired and a free subscription for members who are fully and permanently retired aged 75 and over.

To be eligible, members must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Are fully and permanently retired with no earned income; and
  • Hold no Company Directorships and are not volunteering in any capacity which involves the giving of advice on building or construction matters.

If you are an Associate or Incorporate member and meet all of the criteria then all you now need to do is:

  • Download the application form Retired Rate Application Form (ACIOB / ICIOB)
  • Complete in full and sign.
  • Please return your form by email to subenquiry@ciob.org.uk. Alternatively you can return your application by post to: The Subscriptions Department, The Chartered Institute of Building, 1 Arlington Square, Downshire Way, Bracknell, Berkshire, RG12 1WA.

If you are 75 or will be 75 by the 31st December 2018, meet all of the criteria and are not currently receiving the retired rate then all you now need to do is:

  • Download the Retired Rate Application Form (ACIOB / ICIOB).
  • Complete in full and sign.
  • Please return your form by email to subenquiry@ciob.org.uk. Alternatively you can return your application by post to: The Subscriptions Department, The Chartered Institute of Building, 1 Arlington Square, Downshire Way, Bracknell, Berkshire, RG12 1WA.


MCIOB and FCIOB Retired Grade

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) offer a retired grade annual subscription for eligible members who are fully and permanently retired and a free subscription for members who are fully and permanently retired aged 75 and over.

To be eligible, members must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Are fully and permanently retired with no earned income; and

Direct Debit

If you have a UK bank account you can pay your annual subscription by direct debit. It’s convenient for you and you can choose to pay by an annual instalment on 1st January or 6 equal instalments from 1st January to 1st June. You will always be notified of payments due.

All you need to do is:

  • Download the mandate.
  • Complete in full and sign.
  • Please return your form by e-mail to subenquiry@ciob.org.uk. Alternatively you can return your application by post to: The Subscriptions Department, The Chartered Institute of Building, 1 Arlington Square, Downshire Way, Bracknell, Berkshire, RG12 1WA.
